Fabric

We work with polyester that is made from 100% recycled materials, mainly post-consumer water bottles and pre-consumer waste. By weight, this equates to approximately 7-10 water bottles being removed from the waste stream for each 2’ x 3’ flag. Additionally, it was important to us that our flags are produced domestically to minimize the environmental impact due to shipping and to ensure the manufacturing process meets US environmental regulations. Our flags are supplied by RePatriot Flag, a veteran owned business with production taking place in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The recycled polyester yarn they use is produced by Repreve, whose recycling and manufacturing facility is located in North Carolina.

Packaging

Our packaging is made with 100% recycled and post consumer content. It is produced by EcoEnclose in Colorado. As with our flag, the production of this product in the United States minimizes carbon emissions from transportation, helps the local economy, and ensures ethical workplace conditions.

 

Can Our products be reused and recycled?

It is best to reuse as much material as possible. If you are not able to find a good use for your flag after its time as a flag has come to an end, you’re still in luck. The flag can be returned to us for repair or reuse. If you contact us we will cover the return postage for a flag that needs to be retired. Additionally, our packaging is 100% recyclable or reusable.

Total Carbon Footprint Per Flag: 1.9 to 3.3 lbs

A note about our calculations: We were not able to measure our emissions directly and had to extrapolate our emissions from existing published resources. We want to acknowledge that there are limitations to the accuracy of our Carbon Dioxide emissions estimates. As a result we offset a significantly larger amount of carbon dioxide than our estimates predict we emit.

Taking responsibility for our impact

 

Climate Change Flags are offset by the climate awareness they help promote. We also donate 50% of our profits to environmentally focused organizations and we choose to offset at least thirty times more Carbon than our estimated emissions. We recognize that offsetting carbon emissions is not a substitute for reducing emissions. We are always looking for more suggestions on how we can improve. Our goal is to have a net positive impact on the environment.
